April Showers?

Well that is a stupid title but I had to get my fingers walking I need to get back to my blogging. I have 11 fricken blogs I just keep naming them more and more. I need serious help! Well since we last posted we have done so much stuff. Had a great gathering at my mother-in-Loves home with the Markese Gang. It is always fun when family gets together and when they are the Italian side it is even more exciting. Here is a link to the You Tuby slide show.

My creative genius came through when I went on my YouTuby thing and made a show on how to make my crystal pitcher. It is lovely except I spell things wrong. Small thing to me big thing to Speller's, Gosh it is good to drive people a bit nutty!

Now that it is nearly May I have started yet another Blog. I know I know Shut Up !

Blend me Thinny gosh I am funny ! It will be a daily here we go again loose weight thing. I swear if I had even one penny for every diet and loose weight stuff I have done I would have probably only 4 dollars. Pennies ya know.

Can you believe that half the year has wizzed by. I went to Oakland last week and spent time with Ms. independence and her new hubby.

He is a wonder why he made a fence out of pallets. Amazing feat !

 Ok bye bye

Quilt/Crafting Room .....Doneish

This is a long post because it is the Craft Quilt Room in one post done in about 3 weeks.

So the closet had to be gutted , patched, and painted. I just stuck to plain ole' white.

Very important Make a Plan

I did I made a plan with a drawing of what I wanted to accomplish. I have done to may project willy nilly and this way is better !

Alright the wall's are patched and painted the long white rail things to put the shelves on then attach the shelves. I found a light blue in the garage that matches the walls. It works and I do not have to buy paint.
The rails they are Rubbermaid Adjustable Wire Mount.    Rod one goes up. This is good . Trust me there are so many variables.Ok now the other two rod's making sure they are 22" inches apart from the inside.

Now back to Lowe's.    Shopping Caution
                              CAUTION
Stay in the same area The same parts belong together
Ask how it works prior to leaving the store                                                                                                                                                                                   It look so easy when it is on the walls in Lowe's but Jesus - Mary and Joseph!!!

Fabric Side of the closet

Here is the best part of the closet. The hanging material idea. I had seen some where that someone used this method to hang tissue paper. My mind says why not material. ???  Yes I have a LOT of material. I put the large quantity on top set's and matchingish on the shelf holding the material. I took "some" of the material that matched and hung it on the individual rods on the shelf. Brilliant! The drawers have matching colors and fabric style material. Look when I started quiting my teacher said buy material when it is out it does not come around twice. Thus the Fabric!
Pretty Cool Idea!

Here is the opposite side  that the desk will go into. The top shelves have quilt's that needs to be started.

How to Convert Suitcases into a Coffee Table

Today while cleaning my house I am going to try to post once an hour to catch everyone up on some of my adventures. First the coffee table now I tried to get this post in order but this blog will not mind me. The pictures I sat for 45 minutes trying to get them in order but noooo the blog would not cooperate but you get the idea. I will try to put a small explanation with each to walk you through the process.

First thing you need is a couple of vintage suitcases. They are easily found at any swap meet or vintage store. Get the cheapest ones . The beauty of these is you can store stuff in the suitcases. I store blankets and comforters. They take up so much room on the shelves. One should be larger then the other to balance the look. Funny thing the larger suitcase had my initials on it.

Wild right !

Next is to if you want decoupage them. Here is what I did. I got some travel stickers from an Etsy store. I also put my son's band poster on the top it was a perfect fit. Grab a jar of Mod Podge.

Here are the stickers I got

I completely cover the suitcases and apply my stickers. I put a small amount to put the stickers then painted two coasts to cover them and get a good shne. Let it dry for 24 hours and make sure you do not need another coat.

A few pictures to show you my finished stiker time.

It turned out pretty good.

Now to put the feet on. These I purchases at the local hardware store. They cost 1 dollar each. I bought these because I can easily put some felt on the bottom to avoid scratches on the hardwood floors.

Ok so here I had to put feet on not really so hard just drilled the holes. But I have to say a tear
did drop having to rip the silk inside after all where in the world is a suitcase with silk anymore I ask you.

Insert the foot into the suitcase and put on the screw tighten until taunt. It took no time. The next thing I did was varnish it. I won't bore you with the pictures it was a clear varnish. You can use paint on or spray varnish.

Now to get a glass top made. I took mine to Aladdin Glass here in Simi Valley. Any glass business can accommodate you. It took 24 hours and I had my little DIY Coffee Table home and ready to store blankets and put my feet up. Just enough table not to big not to small and homemade. Yup I upcycled. .
