Fair Time 2016

Ventura County Fair what a great time of year. I have always enjoyed it with Family and Friends The ocean air the laughter of little children the smell of pigs, cows and other little rascals.

The best times I remember are with friends. Charlye and I use to go every year back in the day when I worked at KHAY we would grab a plate of curly chili fries and cop a squat and say not a word.




Not much has changed since then . I still go with a loved one and enjoy every minute.

 This is not your normal corn dog my friends this is a Italian eating an Italian Sausage Corn dog.











I think the most fun was throwing my Mama in her wheel chair and running her around the Fair.

Yes she was the next person to enjoy my Curly Fries but for Mama we put the chili on the side.

When it was time to get her a Deep Friend Twinkie she was a bit bewildered she knew not what this concoction would be. Well I asked for a bite and her response was.

Well Rides and Ribbons were a plenty.

And this year I took a chance and entered some of my watercolor painting.
























 I love painting !








I even got a 1st Place Ribbon for some Butternut Squash my neighbor gave me to Pressure Can ...thanks Karen!

Not so bad Hubby and Bro said. 

This year is super special I am going with my Hubby go figure and Brother Pace will be joining us as a bonus.

Love this because men are so easy. Food and drinks are all they really need.

Ok so here is the rest of the story...........

Fair so My friend Darcy picks me up I of course come out with he3r hot coffee and breakfast muffin for  the long drive up north.....20 minutes but the way we talk 45 at least......So we go we arrive not a big crowd but enough ...  First things first Corn Dogs  ....then off we go to the Photo building and nope no ribbons but the thing we both do not get is Why???? now there are some great pictures some really good ones but some of the ones that won we both scratched our heads......And I just kept saying you never know what the judge is  has been drinking looking for .......

So we jot on off to the home goods this is the most fun because there is such a variety of stuff from the jams and baked goods to tablescapes, quilts, knitting, gourds, painting, scrapbooks, cards, needlework and on and on.....and on and on..zzzzzzzzzz...so we first go to see what I won of course and 4 blue ribbons made me quite proud...all together we got 12 various ones.......2 Blue for canning and 2 Blue for baking woot woot you can see those ribbons and winners on the Canarella Site ...............

So now we are done in there and we are off to see all the little animals rabbits, chickens, pigs,goats, sheep...zzzzzzzz there were two adorable little 4H boys with there chickens and one feel in love with Darcy and she spent so much time with him and listened to his every word it was adorable...My  kid I got the one that had one chicken and not a lot to say but hallelujah cause I would have stuffed the little boy Darcy got into the cage with his chicken ......no no no that is not true.... hummm....So after we got the history of the chicken and all it's relatives from the past 45 Fairs prior to this boy even being a born we got the hell out of there.... left



So we go out to the fairway to go to our next adventure and low and behold there are two swash buckling cowboys one little ponies hummmmm attached to their bodies??? Well it was a photo opt. now I do have to admit I am not my self with regards to photo shots I am the queen of take it anytime anyhow anywhere  but as of late no so much......





Now we are off to the KKK Goats and Sheep why do I say that well they all had on white coats and hoods look at the pictures am I wrong...They were all shapes and sizes who have thought there  were so many kinds...And these animals are taken better care of then me..They have all the food they want , plenty of water, clean room, they are  groomed so you could practically eat off them and I gotta say this is  the life....

Ok now the shopping trip...now granted Darcy told me this is the only place in the whole wide world she shops and she loves loves loves the clothes....but had I known we were going to spend 7 days and become part of the extended  family phew and can I give some advise to these booths and the fair have some chairs for us old people..Aries & Taurus clothing family......So Darcy had more fun shopping and I got to tell you it ticked me to see her so happy....for peddle pushers and a couple of tops...What some women do for a good piece of clothing....

Well I dropped off the canned goods and the pictures I thought were ribbon worthy  last week ....now this week this crack of dawn I am yet off again to take baked goods. Mimi and I spent most of the weekend baking up a storm...pheww how do the pros do it.....so off I go to deliver the goods...I am going to try to sneak into the canned area and check out if I got any ribbons......Oh here is one picture that I took of my sourdough it was a beautiful thing.....

Off to Fair we go.....

 I took some of the pictures i took this last yer in the garden and cooking and entered them..I will post them tomorrow I have copies ...I was amazed at the amount of pictures people put in and the pictues are amazing....Mine are like the little beginner shots the ones people say how cute ....

Monday really busy day at work and look i know you are about fed up with the fair but look at my ribbons and i got yes hold on to your hat $6.00 dollars winning funds....LOL ...and look at my sister Mimi and me hammock heads.....and the tree check out the perfect hole in it...well that is Monday stuff...ohohohoh i went to dinner at my nuns home well one nun one lay person..Sister Janet and her friend Mary it was great lasagna and salad laughter and really a great time the only thing missing is a picture but i will get one next time.....Life is good.....God Bless
