1934 turn the House Back

Okay remember it's 2025 we're reviewing and 2024 when I moved here. So let's review some of the stuff we've done at this home. You know I think it's such a small little home yet it's got more square footage than my house in Southern California. I think that's because we have that little basement area which is not little.

I knew it wasn't going to happen overnight but little by little I had to make this house my own. First thing I did was paint some of the rooms. I could say just to be on the nice side they were deep rich colors with inspirational quotes written over all the walls. Inspiring if you needed a self-help book printed on your walls .

Throughout the last year I've had a patio attached to the back of the house. The area where I put this patio there is a room I am going to be using for quilting, painting and a general little office for me. There was a huge window in the back looking out at the backyard. First thought patio! Why? Well I love outdoors I adore gardening and during the winter when it is cold I will be able to sit outside and admire while freezing my ass off. Loving all the wonders of snow and cold. I know I know I sound like it's a pain in the ass and it is cuz it goes on for a few months but all in all it's a beautiful change from Southern California.

The next little project was what am I going to do with my linoleum floors no offense to linoleum but I hate it. So I found some beautiful little tiles and took this kitchen back to what it should be little hexagons here are some pictures to show you what I did.

And then what I did was leading to the stairs down to the basement I use the same tiles opposite white dots on black tiles and tile the stairs going down it's pretty cool.

Next project lights I wanted to put lights in this home that reflected the 1934 feeling it gave me. I found a wonderful shop that sold vintage lights as well as regular lights and picked out some gorgeous ones for the little breakfast nook, the kitchen and the front hallway.

I also tiled the front hallway by the front door it's almost like a baby mudroom. I made sure I put tiles that had a matte finish so that when I walked in the door I wouldn't slip and fall on my ass. Hips and knees, hips and knees those are the things I have to watch out now that I'm 70.

I put fans in every room. Unlike my California home I have one TV and that's in the living room and a couch that fits me and one other person if I ever have another person doubtful.

Well that's basically all I've done in this little house. Now when it comes to landscaping and all the changes I've made outside I think I'm going to throw all that stuff on my gardening site I'll link to everything. Also remember that I have my food preservation site, cooking site along with a seed saving and gardening site. Anything you may have an interest in I promise I'll put links to all that stuff.  I always make sure that it will open it in a new page and you won't lose your spot here on this blog. One thing I do not like about websites are advertising and when you click on a link you're lost and forgot where you were before.

But luckily here no advertising and new page links.

Got to love it!
